James W. GrantJamie was born and raised in Tampa, FL.  A third generation Floridian, he has lived in the Tampa Bay area for more than twenty years.  He is a graduate of Tampa’s Jesuit High School, Auburn University, and Stetson University College of Law.  

Jamie earned a Marketing degree and a Political Science minor while at Auburn. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Grace Campus Ministries.  During his time at Auburn, he worked as a research assistant for the Florida Capitol Advocate Group.  Mr. Grant also spent four years as a student assistant on Auburn Head Football Coach Tommy Tuberville’s staff.  During those four years, he worked under Defensive Coordinator Gene Chizik and Wide Receivers Coach Greg Knox, working both on the field and in the film room with Auburn’s secondary and wide receivers.

Upon graduation, Jamie returned to the Tampa Bay area to attend Stetson University College of Law.  While there, he had the honor of clerking for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida as well as the Honorable William P. Levens in Florida’s Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.  

He also served as a research assistant to the head of Stetson’s Advocacy Program, Professor Charles Rose.  During that time, he authored “The Art of Voir Dire: Winning Verdicts Before Opening Statements."  After a semester teaching Trial Advocacy with Professor Stephen Everhart, Mr. Grant spent the next 4 semesters teaching with the Honorable David A. Demers, former Chief Judge of Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit.

Jamie spent two years as a member of the nation’s top-ranked trial team, competing throughout Florida and across the country.  While a part of the Trial Team, he led Stetson to a championship at the 2009 Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition and was named the best advocate at the statewide competition.  Upon graduation, he was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award, given to the graduating student who most excels in Advocacy, Evidence, and Trial Practice.  He also recieved the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award for his pro bono work during law school.

As a result of his achievements in the advocacy field, Jamie was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers.  He is a member of the Florida Bar and admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  Jamie is also a member of the Carrollwood Community Bar Association, Tampa Bay Inns of Court, and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.

Jamie is on the Board of Directors for the General H. Norman Schwarzkopf Children’s Home Sporting Clays Classic and The Ybor Experience, an annual event benefitting the Cystic Fybrosis Foundation.  He is also a supporter of Score International and the Christian Embassy.  He is a member of Ducks Unlimited, the NRA, Coastal Conservation Association, and the American Pointing Lab Association.

An avid outdoorsmen, he spends much of his free time in the woods or on the water.
